New Illustration for AARP magazine. The article discusses ways parents can de-clutter their teens. I had a lot of fun trying to cram as much info into this piece as possible, I don't do a lot of detailed interiors so this was a fun challenge. The great type treatment was done by Mutt Ink. This assignment had a pretty quick turnaround. 1 day for sketches and 1 day for finals. I’ve grown to love tight deadlines, they force me to keep things simple and to make quick decisions that I would otherwise agonize over. I can only fit so much procrastination in day.

The wonderful people at Chicago Magazine asked me to illustrate their current summer feature. The articles are written in a "choose your own adventure" way which had me hooked from the get go. Those were my favorite types of books when I was a kid, although I always managed to lose my dice so I would end up picking an arbitrary number when it was time to pick a path.

Remember when I talked about the gargantuan atlas that I contributed artwork to?

Well, The Lifted Brow 6 is finally up for preorder!
TLB06 is an Atlas of the world as seen by musicians, illustrators, artists, and writers.

There's about 144 pages of visual art in this issue, plus 67 stories and more than 150 limericks and two CDs clocking in at almost eighty minutes each.

The lineup is phenomenal.

This is my lamp design for the Enlighten! group show.
Inspired by the chilly weather we've been having up here. Hopefully it'll cast a warm and soft glow during the winter months to tide us over until spring.
The show will be up for one night but you can also pre-order a lamp.

Enlighten! One Night of Light is a group exhibition of table lamps featuring printed shades with artwork by an eclectic roster of over 85 fine artists and illustrators working together to support arts education for children in Los Angeles. Each artist’s lamp design will be sold in a limited edition available for one night only. In addition, some artists will also create one original, handmade shade for a lamp that will be featured in a silent auction.

When: Saturday November 21st, 5-11PM

This is an illustration I did for the Lifted Brow's TLB6 issue, which is an atlas of the world: 246 countries, a bunch of cities, and several made-up places, newly observed by The Church, Douglas Coupland, Christos Tsiolkas, Bodies of Water, and who knows who else. It should be available for preorder pretty soon. I think it's going to be really awesome and I can't wait to get my copy.

I was asked to illustrate an article for the Vegetarian Times. The article in question is about Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement. I actually knew what it was through no better reason than having watched Lost in translation 200000 times when I first moved to NY. Weird i know, but it seemed to be the only thing that could take the edge off of having the BQE highway literally pass through my Brooklyn living room.
Anyhow, this was an amazing opportunity and Scott Hyers my AD was super nice and a pleasure to work with.

I did the illustrations for this games for windows ad. It appeared in Rolling Stone and a few other magazines as well as on the GFW main webpage. All in all it was a really fun project, i didn't know i could draw such a mean soccer ball.

I've been invited to be part of a book about little kid's dreams. This is the nightmare i picked to illustrate;

I DREAM A NIGHTMARE
I dreamed that my sister Diana and I were at the park playing on the swings, and it was a dark and solitary night. When I looked at my sister I saw that her intestines, liver, heart and other internal organs were coming out her throat. But she didn't got any attention from my parents, that told her that the throat will close again soon. Diana was bleeding a lot but I was not scared. I only kept staring at her.

it reminded me that my dreams were so much better when i was a kid. Our view of the world tends to get so rational (and shh..boring) as we grow older, no?

This is my most recent project. Mekanism, Inc. commissioned me to do the illustrations for this animation. The intent is to promote the long life of compact fluorescent light bulbs, which last 10 times longer and use much less energy than their incandescent brothers that drop along the way.
